INTEX CUSTOM HOMES BUILDS HOME FOR A FAMILY IN NEED
Builder Completes Home in Habitat for Humanity "Builder Blitz"
Intex Custom Homes announced today the completion of a home for the Toku family during the nationwide Habitat for Humanity "Building Blitz".
The home was completed for Dzifa and Kodzo Toku and their three children Emmanuella, Kodzoyi, and Kodzo on June 6th. This years Portland "Builder Blitz" began May 31st and featured five builders from the area who completed five homes in the Lents neighborhood in South East Portland.
The Home Builder Blitz 2008 is a nationwide event through Habitat for Humanity International in which homes are built start to finish in a week by professional builders. The event culminated on Friday, June 6th with the families receiving the Keys to their new home at the Home Dedication Ceremony, a sanctioned event of the Portland Rose Festival. The families receiving these homes have already put in 500 hours of sweat equity and will purchase the homes at cost and pay a zero-percent interest mortgage.
With the completion of the Intex Custom Home constructed, the five members of the Toku family were able to move out of their two-bedroom apartment with multiple leaks and severe mold problems into an affordable home that they helped build.
Dzifa works at a local non-profit organization and Kodzu works as a zoom assembly/machine operator. Together, they believe in hard work and responsible management of their finances.
"We are so thrilled to have been a part of this experience. The Toku family was so appreciative of our efforts. They are wonderful people and very deserving of this home." said Joe Bauschelt, President of Intex Custom Homes.
